Nigerian music & video director, ThankGod Omori Jesam known as TG Omori has revealed his stance as Wizkids’s comment about rap music has generate mixed reactions.
Recall that in a recent interview with 10 magazines, Wizkid declared the Afrobeat genre of music as the new pop, adding that the rap genre of music is dead.
He said: “Afrobeats is the new pop, sold two million copies in America off of one song! Even some American artists don’t have a diamond record.
“If I’m being honest, I don’t listen to any other genre of music anymore. don’t listen to rap that shit is boring to me. It’s dead now, it’s tired. These guys do the same shit, rap on the same beats and the same flows.”
Weighing into the comment by Wizkid that has since caused an uproar among other artists, Omori who is known as a leading figure in cinematography took to Twitter to reveal where he stands.
According to the 27-year-old, no matter the genre of the song, the making of the video should be brought to him.
He wrote: Rap or Afro beats. Make una sha carry the video come.
