Some days ago, Olamide joined Wizkid on stage and they gave a clinical performance of three of their songs together.
I watched that performance and all I can say is it was very beautiful. Watching the two of them, who have both come a long way from upcoming artists in 2011, to grown men with huge achievements and unprecedented cultural impact, gives some kind of joy. It’s interesting to think of how it all started on “Omo To Shan.”
“Omo To Shan” was one of Olamide‘s earliest singles. A track off his debut, “Rapsodi,” the song was a hit back in 2011 and was one of the songs where Baddo showed his versatility. They went on to have different careers, Wizkid as the poster boy for afro-pop and Olamide the leader of the school of indigenous hip-hop.
The next link-up happened in 2016, on a Young John-produced track, “Confam Ni,” a hit in its own right. This was followed by the 2018 single tagged “Kana.”
Their last song together was an ID Cabasa song that was a big hit in 2019. The jam, “Totori” remains one of the most recognizable Wizkid and Olamide songs ever.
